Iraq-Israel Peace Initiative 2020-2030
The Iraq-Israel Peace Initiative 2020-2030 was launched in October 2020 as a core pillar of the secularist project “The October 25 Movement.” This initiative was spearheaded by Talal Hariri, the movement’s leader, along with a group of young activists and party members, with the aim of fostering a culture of normalization as part of broader peace efforts. Our vision extends beyond the realm of cold political agreements, striving instead for a comprehensive normalization that encompasses cultural, economic, social, and civilizational ties between Iraq and Israel.
At its heart, the initiative is driven by a bold and forward-looking vision—to see Iraq join the Abraham Accords by the year 2030. We believe that Iraq’s integration into this framework will mark a historic milestone, not only in Iraq-Israel relations but also in reshaping the broader Middle Eastern landscape towards peace, cooperation, and shared prosperity.
The Road to 2030
The initiative envisions a clear roadmap toward Iraq’s accession to the Abraham Accords, with 2030 as the target year for achieving full-scale normalization. This goal aligns with a broader regional transformation, where new paradigms of cooperation and integration are reshaping Middle Eastern geopolitics.
However, this process requires intellectual and cultural groundwork. We understand that political agreements alone cannot guarantee a sustainable peace unless they are supported by a fundamental shift in societal attitudes. Our role is to facilitate this transformation by equipping Iraq’s new generations with the knowledge, tools, and platforms needed to embrace peace as a strategic choice.
A Cultural and Social Initiative Complementing Political Efforts
While the Iraq-Israel Peace Initiative operates as a cultural and social movement, it is fully aligned with the broader political objectives of The October 25 Movement. Our initiative serves as a complementary effort that reinforces the movement’s mission to build a modern, secular, and forward-thinking Iraq—one that is integrated into the global community and embraces regional partnerships.
Furthermore, our efforts resonate with the aspirations of Iraqi Jews who have long sought to rebuild ties with their ancestral homeland. By advocating for an inclusive historical narrative, we seek to restore Iraq’s pluralistic identity and foster an environment where all communities—regardless of faith or ethnicity—can coexist in harmony.
Aligning with Israel’s Peace Vision and Regional Integration
Our initiative is not only rooted in Iraq’s internal transformation but also aligns with Israel’s broader vision for peace and regional cooperation. The Israeli peace narrative is centered on building trust, economic partnerships, and cross-border collaboration—principles that we fully embrace in our mission.
We believe that Iraq’s normalization with Israel should not be a mere diplomatic formality but rather a genuine and strategic alliance that contributes to regional stability, economic development, and cultural enrichment.
Looking Ahead
As we continue our work, we invite all advocates of peace, policymakers, intellectuals, and civil society actors to join us in shaping this historic transformation. The path to Iraq-Israel normalization is not without challenges, but it is a journey worth undertaking for the sake of future generations.
We remain steadfast in our commitment to breaking barriers, challenging prejudices, and paving the way for a new era of peace, cooperation, and mutual respect.
The Iraq-Israel Peace Initiative 2020-2030 is more than just an idea—it is a movement, a vision, and a commitment to a better future.

Our Mission and Vision
Since its inception, the Iraq-Israel Peace Initiative has pursued a grassroots approach to peacebuilding, focusing on the engagement of youth as key agents of change. Our work is centered on:
1.Promoting Enlightenment and Dialogue – We cultivate a culture of peace, tolerance, and open dialogue by challenging outdated narratives and fostering mutual understanding between Iraqis and Israelis.
2.Reviving Shared Cultural Heritage – Iraq and Israel share a deep-rooted historical and civilizational connection, particularly through Iraqi Jewry, which remains an integral part of Iraq’s rich Mesopotamian heritage. By reclaiming and celebrating this shared past, we aim to heal historical wounds and lay the foundation for reconciliation.
3.Encouraging Economic and Social Integration – True peace goes beyond political treaties; it must be reflected in people-to-people relations, economic partnerships, and social exchanges. We work towards bridging gaps between communities, fostering collaboration in fields such as trade, education, technology, and cultural exchange.
4.Building Bridges Between Iraqi and Israeli Societies – The initiative seeks to challenge misinformation and reshape perceptions by facilitating direct interaction between Iraqis and Israelis, whether through digital platforms, cultural forums, or grassroots activism.
